Apprentice Buyer

Date: 12 Aug 2019

You will be following a full 3 year development structure with the first year undertaking a Business Administration Apprenticeship and then progressing to become a Junior Buyer in Year 3.

Duties and responsibilities during Year 1:

  • Familiarisation of Centronic
  • Learning basic purchasing skills
  • Order progressing
  • Updating purchase order line data
  • Basic maintenance of key metrics; on-time performance, spend by supplier, etc
  • Starting CIPS accreditation

Development in Year 2:

  • Develop planning skills; inventory management, order quantities, etc
  • Maintaining limited number of suppliers
  • CIPS Stage 3

Development in Year 3:

  • Continue with above but own supplier for stock repeat parts (using stock management skills and
  • CIPS skills) – this would allow technical buyers to focus on contracts, flow down requirements,
  • supplier assessments, etc
  • Develop more detailed metrics, maintain supplier registers, risk registers, etc.

 

Skills required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work
  • Attention to detail and basic problem solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paces office environment
